Cultural Round Trips -- On the trail of St. Paul the Apostle


Day 1: Arrival
Flight to Antalya. Arrival at Antalya Airport and greeting from our tour guide. Transfer to hotel. Dinner and accommodation in Antalya.

Day 2: Antalya – Kuşadası
Drive through the Taurus Mountains to Kuşadası. Visit the ancient city of Afrodisias, which was once dedicated to the goddess of love and was one of the most important bishop's seats in Anatolia. Dinner and accommodation in Kuşadası.

Day 3: Kuşadası
Whole day's visit to the fascinating ancient city of Ephesus. (1 Cor/Rom 16/Acts 19/Eph 1-2 Tim/Rev 2:1-7/Ignatius, Polycrates, Councils of 431 and 449). Afterwards, visit the Basilica of St. John and the house of the Virgin Mary. Dinner and accommodation in Kuşadası.

Day 4: Kuşadası – Pergamon – Ayvalık
Morning drive to Pergamon. Visit to the Acropolis of Pergamon (Rev 2:12-17), the place where parchment paper is produced and the asclepieion, the famous cult and healing temple from the Roman period. Dinner and accommodation near Ayvalık.

Day 5: Ayvalık – Pamukkale

Today, the journey continues to Pamukkale via Sardis (Rev 3:1-6). Sardis is the famed city of the Lydian king Croesus and contains an antique gymnasium and synagogue. In Pamukkale, visit the ancient city of Hierapolis, where Philip the Apostle was sentenced to death. Dinner and accommodation in Pamukkale.

Day 6: Pamukkale – Antalya
The journey continues along the Turkish Riviera to Antalya, passing various tectonic freshwater lakes. On the way, a visit to a carpet maker's shop is planned, where the traditional art of knotting can be seen close up. Accommodation in the area of Antalya.

Day 7: Antalya - Kurşunlu
Drive to the provincial capital of Antalya, visit the famous Kurşunlu Waterfall. Afterwards, free time and stroll through Antalya's famous market. On the way back to the hotel, visit a jewellery manufacturing centre and a leather fashion show. Accommodation in the area of Antalya.

Day 8: Departure
Transfer to the airport for the return flight.
